Terms of Service

1. The service

Hitchin Mail provides paid email mailboxes on the hitchin.me.uk domain, including IMAP/SMTP access, webmail, and a self-service account dashboard. The underlying mail infrastructure is operated by us on our own server.

2. Your account

You must provide accurate registration details and a working recovery email address. You're responsible for keeping your account and mailbox passwords secure, and for all activity under your account.

3. Acceptable use

You may not use your mailbox to send spam or unsolicited bulk email, distribute malware, engage in phishing, or use the service for any illegal purpose. We may investigate reports of abuse and take action including throttling, suspension, or termination without refund for serious or repeated violations.

4. Storage and sending limits

Each package has a storage quota and alias limit as shown at signup. New accounts may be subject to stricter outbound sending limits, increased over time. We may adjust limits to protect the service from abuse.

5. Billing and cancellation

Subscriptions are billed monthly in advance via Stripe. You can change package or cancel at any time from your dashboard. Cancelling stops future billing at the end of your current paid period; your mailbox remains active until then.

6. Suspension and deletion

If a payment fails, we'll retry and your mailbox may enter a grace period before being suspended. Following cancellation or an unresolved payment failure, mailboxes are suspended and then permanently deleted after a retention period (currently 7 days' grace before suspension, and 30 days' retention before deletion) - back up anything you need before then.

7. Data and backups

We take reasonable steps to back up account records, but you are responsible for keeping your own copies of anything irreplaceable. We do not guarantee against data loss.

8. Changes

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the service after a change constitutes acceptance of the new terms.

10. Liability and governing law

The service is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from use of the service. These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
